The Strangeness of Aloha

It gets hot during the day, but not unbearably hot.

Most evenings transition into night with a heavy mist that spreads across the island.

Chickens and small lizards roam freely, without fear.

All the residents have a smiling and friendly nature, but mostly hold everything at arms length.

And (mostly) everyone wants to leave.

This is the strange nature of the Land of Aloha, the state of Hawai’i. And this is where I found myself in an August afternoon, after spending the last 26 Augusts in the state of Wisconsin. Life promised to be an experience, and has not disappointed.

The purpose of this blog is to recount, well, everything; thoughts and musings, carefully-crafted narratives and half-baked quips alike, combined with photos and spur-of-the-moment Spotify song recommendations. So buckle up, hit the Follow button, and let’s get started.
